Tuija Lindström was one of Swedens foremost photographic artists. This is the first book in a series covering her work from 1980. Many of the images in the book were taken in the eighties while she was studying at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, a period that laid the foundations for her later work. Tuija Lindström was inspired and fascinated by the very essence of photography and the almost alchemical nature of darkroom work. In a period of experimentation and curiosity, using the opportunities offered by analogue techniques, she conducted a creative investigation into classical photographic themes: landscapes, portraits, nudes, and still lifes. Collected and presented together, the images also highlight Tuija Lindström's importance for and influence on contemporary Swedish photography.

Tuija Lindström was born in 1950 in Finland and passed away in Stockholm in 2017. She was Sweden's first female professor in photography at what was then called the School of Photography and Film at the University of Gothenburg. This book was published in conjunction with an exhibition at the Hasselblad Foundation in Gothenburg.
